The design provides both efficient storage and improved game play. Many of the trays can be utilized during the game, and they greatly aid set-up and clear-away times. The rules and boards act as a lid on top of the trays.
The trays are arranged in up to two layers as shown. All the trays feature a full colour print, inside and out. There is space for all cards to be sleeved with quality sleeves.
Note that the inside tray colours of the player trays match each of the four player factions. Note also the bottom left tray which contains the game summary tiles, soloist deck and the first player marker.
These are the trays from the insert. Each player receives their own player tray and the long story point counter tray can be placed next to the board in easy reach of all players. The insert includes one filler tray, which is added to the box inverted and has art from the box cover.
All the trays have colour icons added to the tray bottom to make it easy to know what goes where when clearing the game away. The main card tray and the royal court & city tiles tray can be placed directly onto the game board, and their colour print allows them to integrate with the print of the board.
All the trays can be used during game play, making set up and clear away times far faster.
When packing the box, first place the personal boards on top of the lower layer of trays. Next place the rule book on top of the personal boards, sealing the contents of the trays underneath. Note that there is room for just one language version of the rulebook. Lastly place the main game board on top. This fully fills the box without any lid lift and allows for vertical storage of the game.
